How to use Word & Script Timer
- Paste your text into the counter.
- Review the counts and set reading and speaking speeds to suit your intended use.
- Edit the text and compare the updated results; rehearse spoken material separately.
A short product walkthrough
Paste the script and use the count to spot a draft that is much longer than planned. Read it aloud with the screen actions included. Pauses, demonstrations, and emphasis can add time that a word-based estimate cannot predict.
An estimate is a planning aid
Reading speed depends on language, familiarity, formatting, and purpose. A dense explanation and a casual caption with the same word count may take different amounts of time. A calculator cannot measure comprehension.
Know the counting boundary
Word boundaries vary across languages and software. Hyphenated expressions, numbers, URLs, and languages without spaces can produce different totals. For a formal submission, use the counting rules required by the destination.
Good to know
Can I use the estimate as video runtime?
Treat it as an early estimate only. A timed rehearsal is more useful once the script, pauses, and visual actions are in place.
Is the pasted text stored?
The tool calculates in your browser and does not upload the text. Keep important drafts in your own document; this page is not a document-storage service.
